As this is a receipt, then what are the purchase price(s) listed and the date of the purchase? |

Receipt I guess is the wrong word, It is on a typed piece of paper in my dad's files under purchases. No prices listed, why? Something on here good? |

Hi Greenlant 408, I have seen your other post titled "suggestions on where to sell a large collection", and you have racked up 43 posts in the last 3 days on the subject of your inherited stamps. You do not seem to be any further ahead, as you do not yet have your stamps back in your possession. As many others have informed you already, the condition of a stamp strongly influences its values. If this latest typed list of US stamps were average in used condition then their sale value would be less than $20. If you wait until you can post actual scans of the stamps then we can assist you. But in the meantime it seems futile to speculate on values. Even this typed list is no indication that these stamps are included in your collection. |

I second stamporator's post. also, its not clear whether the #s above are for which country. they are Scott #s probably--but not having the country is useless
I've also made a suggestion that if you have a large collection--your best bet is get them to an auction house, as it will be easier on you instead of scanning and posting pages of stamps etc. |

they are US stamps, the entire collection is ALL US, my original post here even says "SCOTT# description" above #158. Why is this important? Educate this vet. |

Hi Greenlant408, Scott catalogue numbers are owned and licensed by the Scott Publishing Co, a subsidiary of Amos Press. Although you may find stamps referenced using the Scott number, the ONLY place you will see a complete list of Scott numbers is in a Scott catalogue (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_catalogue). I would strongly recommend you invest the time to go to your local library and sign out their latest Scott Catalog that covers USA stamps. Most of your current questions will be answered (ID, cat. value, etc..) |

Hello, Your list may be mint (new) stamps as the only one used would be the one marked used. But, What kind of mint? Are the stamps showing signs of disturbed gom on their backs or are they post Office fresh with no gum disturbance at all? That affects the price a lot. And then the centering nad so on. You could look on ebay under stamps / United States and then search for the numbers without the number sign or hatch included. Most stamps are lised under a number or year and a president or theme or such. You may be confused by some pricing on there so don't hesitate to ask about that also, if you find a hard to understand price. Please include a link to the auction page though. |

You can see an online catalog of nearly all Scott numbers with pictures of the stamps. Warning: please understand that the company has a history of overpricing their stamps. www.mysticstamp.comThere is another even better site with photos and current prices for stamps sold on www.ebay.com/b/260/" rel="nofollow">ebay and auction houses. It does have a drawback in that it does not list the most recent stamps: www.theswedishtiger.com |

went to library, couldn't find this catalog. Librarian said she never heard of it.this town is so backwards I looked at the online catalog from OH WOW! lol Mystic. Looking at pictures of the stamps in the catalog, they are the same stamps I sent to Vegas. (please no more on the people in Vegas) Especially the Jamestown set. I know they are the same ones. ( I used them as part of a book report back in grade school) Is the blue one really that $$$? How well does everyone in here follow with what Mystic says as far as pricing? I noticed one person says they price high. How much higher? |

Retail prices can be obtained if you have a long life time to sell them. I have to ask did you spend much time learning about your other hobby? Granted it is expensive for toys but you had to study and learn. You can buy a Scott 2013 catalog Specialized US stamps & covers. It is a small investment to understanding the full retail value of the perfect stamp. You had mentioned on another stamp forum that I am part of that the company in Vegas was suppose to be selling your stamps about a month back. Just take photos and list them on ebay and see what they bring, or box them up and send to a stamp company if you want some fast money, of course take about a 50% hit. For the last time contact an auction company to see if they are interested. They may net you a larger return. From reading the several threads on your stamps here and many other places you have gotten some very good advice but for some reason not acting on any of it. I don't know what more we could offer. I wish you luck but I think it is time to act on all of the advice you have received. |
