Found this one today:

I think ebay now requires a picture on listings. Someone apparently just put their kid's picture on the listing rather than another one of a boring envelope for the supplement. Sort of funny...

Well, seller has lots of good, stamp related feedback. Since the auction states it will be updated, and already states exactly what the auction is for, I guess it's ok. Probably didn't have a pic of the supplement handy, so just put in a handy kid/grandkid photo for some temporary face time..

Anyway, she is a really cute kid.. but somebody help! She's about to be eaten by one of the giant rabbits from NIGHT OF THE LEPUS

You've got to see this!

His listing is a bit ambitious but I figured I would write the fellow and show him the error of his ways...lol This is what I wrote:

Hi there! I don't mean to be a bummer or rude but I must tell you that those stamps are both damaged and modern issues. They are Scott catalog #1283 and in absolutely pristine condition - straight from the post office- aren't even worth face value. I'm sorry but that's the honest to God truth about the stamps in this listing. These were released on February, 22 1966 and were called the "dirty face" Washington. The public complained that Georges face looked dirty so the printing plates was re tooled and re-released as Scott #1283B "Clean Face Washington" Neither hold any value except as postage. Again I'm sorry to give you bad news but I figured you don't need any bad feedback on ebay. I'm referring to your Item # 121189463803

I think that some other dealers may be fishing for both someone who does not know much about stamps and who also has deep pockets or it could be someone who knows nothing about stamps thinking that each stamp that they have for sale is scarce and pricey. Sometimes the combination of both along with someone finding the stamp interesting or intriguing may sometimes result in a fishy sale which works for the seller but not for the buyer, except that it becomes an expensive or painful learning lesson that has happened to some of us in different ways before too. It could also be a selling tactic where one has a high buy it now price, but a low auction start price to attract the attention of bidders to the item.

It makes me sick, during a stamp hunt for a particular stamp, how many sellers are doing this. And apparently getting away with it.
