14 of my 18 specialty albums are Minkus Publications, and they have many virtues, but finding supplements and binders has become more and more difficult, and now impossible for any except a few kept up to date by Amos/Scott, who acquired Minkus from Krause who acquired it from Novus Debut in South Carolina who acquired it from.... you get the picture. Would love to hear from other Minkus a;bum users, and how (or if) they keep things updated. Would also love to find a source for NOS Minkus specialty albums.
Lastly, anyone have an interest in helping write a history of Jacques Minkus and Minkus Publications?
I can't help with the specialty albums, but I have done a little work on the history of the Minkus Global and Supreme Global albums. I certainly would be interested in seeing more information on Minkus albums and catalogs.
I feel your pain! I have been using Minkus supplements and binders for, well longer than many have been collecting. I gave up on supplements at least ten years ago, suffered for a couple of years with Scott pages by re-enforcing and re-punching. They just don't fit into what I like. So a few years ago I began designing and printing my own pages the same size as the Minkus pages.
I am lucky because in the business I work in we use a specially designed program that allows me to put together pages using the metric or standard measuring system and others, plus more than 5,000 fonts and the ability to convert the file into many different formats such as PDF, EPS, TIFF and more. I've created templates that allow me to design pages in a few minutes each. I add Scott numbers and whatever headers I wish. I use a Minkus like design on them all. The only drawback is I need to measure each and every stamp or sheet to make a border for them.
EZStamp has a program known as AlbumGen that may make the ordeal of designing pages in the correct Minkus size a little less painful. You may want to check it out. You may also look at the Stiener pages, I've read they can be printed on the oversize Minkus pages.
I don't think there is a good alternative supplement in the marketplace at this point. Good luck!
