Can anyone tell me if the holes in the regular Scott Album pages line up with the holes in the pages from the Scott Specialty Albums?
I recently bought a Scott Specialty Canada album which is current through 1974. I'd like to bring the album up to date, but the earliest Canada Specialty Supplements I could find start at 1980.
I searched the web and was able to find some regular Scott Album Canada pages that covers the period 1975 through 1980.
Thanks,
Larry K.

Larry,
What do you mean by "Regular Scott album pages"?
Scott issued several different albums over the years, and not all are compatable with each other.
If you bought a Scott Canada Specialized album, there were two binder/page options over the years. The first was the two-post whose posts were flat bars. The second was a standard three-ring binder.
All new Specialized supplement pages for Scott Specialized albums are compatable with both two-post and three-ring binders. Conversely, the old, two-post pages do not not work in the new three-ring binders.
Finally, Scott issued specialty albums in a cheaper form, the "Minuteman" albums. Scott issued these for the United States, and Canada. I do not know if they were issued for other countries. These pages are two-post, and do not work in any other Scott binder.
I hope this helps!

The newer Minuteman albums are now 3-ring binders (but low quality IMO). I bought a Minuteman (for some reason I can't remember now) several years back and the dealer had the old two-post binders and happened to have punched the pages for two-post as well as already punched for 3-ring binders. The 3-ring binders when shipped were all banged up in the box and he was angry about it. I bought the pages and two old 2-post binders that were much better quality. |

For several years now, Scott merchandize has decreased considerably in quality while prices are continuing to skyrocket.
Scott just doesn't get it. The reason people purchased Scott products in the past was because of the higher quality.
Because of poor quality products, Scott's days may be numbered!

I hadn't really thought of this, but it makes sense. I propose that one of the reasons might be the availability of custom-designed pages for free on the internet. I think this topic deserves its own thread! Brian |

http://www.albumpages.net/Above is a link to a website offering Bill Steiner's album pages printed on Scott sized paper which will fit Scott binders. There are no illustrations of course but considering how a lot of Scott pages these days have ones that look like black blobs- it's really not a big drawback. Charge is 30 cents per page, I think it's actually cheaper than Scott. In addition to poor quality, I have a complaint with Scott's merchandising policies. They seem to be evolving into a 'print to order' operation. You are left waiting weeks sometimes for a section you need. |

Thanks to all of you for the quick replies.
Brian - the "regular" Scott pages I found in the Internet appear to come from the Canada section of some sort of Scott Worldwide album as opposed to the specialty album. Based on the responses, they probably have the same flat bar posts just like my Specialty albums. I'll take a chance, and we'll see.
Thanks again everyone.

It's funny, you mention print to order. I'm very big on descriptions for my stamps, something the Minuteman has and the Scott National does not.
But the Minuteman has some seriously thin paper. I emailed customer service asking if they'd be willing to offer Minuteman pages on Scott National paper as a print to order option on their web site. The customer service rep thought it was a great idea and passed it along to a manager who shot it down.
I find it laughable, because it would have cost them nothing to do so. |
