Hi,
I've got two Cuban stamps I cannot place. They are identical in design, but of different color and denomination.

They are similar the Scotts Cuba #s 63-66, except that there is a large crown over the centered coat of arms.

The first stamp is brown in color and reads "Cuba-1898,99" on top, and "4 C. De Peso" on the bottom.

The second stamp is blue and reads the same on top, but "5 C. De Peso" on the bottom.

I've searched thru the Scotts Cuban and USA section but cannot locate them. I've seen similar ones on ebay, but they are not identified.

As always, your help is appreciated!

This problem has come up here before. They are apparently revenue stamps.

Thank you - revenue stamps! No wonder I couldn't find them in the Scotts.

I wonder what they were used for - alcohol or other tax or ???

Thanks again,
