I am unable to find this stamp even in the Michel Specialized catalogue for local stamps. There is a sample with almost exact design, but only "Hammonia" stays instead of "Hamburg".

I suppose in that case this must be a stationery (envelope, if it is) cut-out, but, I am still not sure.

Maybe someone's experience will be helpful.

Hammonia is Hamburg...if you speak Latin

I think your cut-out from postal stationery briefkarte dates from around 1886 and is a local post item.

Thanks, Scotzm. This one which I have is on a thin paper (not on the card), so, I suppose that it is a cut-out from postal stationery ENVELOPE, probably from the same time. I never seen these samples before, neither briefkarte or envelope (of the local Hamburg) post.

This briefkarte looks very nice... probably is more scarce in the used condition.

I can't find any envelope that uses this indicia in the Müller catalog. However, it notes that the first postcards using it were on thin paper, 0.11 to 0.16 mm thick.

Thanks, Ekbustad.

I cannot imagine that card can be so thin... 0.11 - 0.16 mm ... it is not even a thin card, it is a thin paper... really unusual for a postcard. But, that is the only logical explanation, if the envelopes with this design haven't been issued.
