Today one of the better INVERTED JENNY was sold at auction .The stamp is MNH-VF graded at 80 ,so this is one of the finest copy of that stamp. Scott catalog is $1,000,000 ---------it sold at $500,000 ouch !----half of catalog .

Who auctioned it? With auction realized sales such as this, the catalog value may actually come down.

BTW, from where did you get the $1M SCV listing? My 2011 Scott Specialized values a MNH example at $1.1 million in VF condition and $850,000 in F/VF condition.

Interestingly, the Postal Service Guide to US Stamps (with SCVs listed) shows the 2011 value at "only" $500,000 (which must be based on Unused OG, presumably hinged, when compared to the Scott Specialized) and the 2012 value at an even lower $450,000.

Siegel sale, the Beverly Hills inverts. $500,000 was much better than most of them bring. They usually go for between $160,000-$300,000 depending on condition, although there have been a few much higher exceptions.

Here's a link to the exact stamp that was sold on 10/09/2013 for $500K. The stamp is identified as Position 68. What I didn't realize before is the claim that this is one of only five examples of the stamp that exists in MNH condition (including the Locket copy):

The locket example might well be stuck to the normal example it is paired with, since the locket has not been opened (as far as I am aware) no one knows. Also it has corner bends, so calling it MNH is probably not really accurate.
