Hi,
I've got one of the 1945 Spanish civil war stamps that in confusing me. It is the Lineas Aereas, pro - montepid 50 cts stamp, a vertical commemorative sized one in dark red and black, portraying an airplane flying over a stream. This one has the overprint LISBOA, which I understand means Portugal postage tax.

Obviously I can't find this in the albums or Scotts catalogs, but several are listed on ebay. I'm wondering if this is not a real stamp, but a "Cinderella"?

Anyone know about this?

Thanks,
Mobilman44

Hi Mobilman44,

It's a Spanish charity label. Here's a link to a previous discussion that shows a number of examples including overprints such as "Lisboa" (Lisbon):

Yup, that is the type I've got. Thank you!

Another question....... Does Scott albums (Big Blue) or catalogs address cinderellas, or are they just not "officially" considered stamps.

Cinderellas are the late Princess to the Ball, so to speak.

Not offocially 'Postage' stamps but close enough looking, and most importantly, desired for their beauty and showing of skilled craftssmanship / artisanship at times, and the pointed subject matter they protray, more relavent to the current subject that a general issue postage stamp oould almost ever be, that they surpass the appeal of postage stamps to some.

At times, to one and all.

Sometimes hard to include in a stamp album / catalogue as there are so many local issues that remain relatively unknown to catalogue producers mostly because they are issued / printed in more limited numbers.

Worthy of collecting but you will have to have a separate collecting area for them, whether it is only a quadrilled )graphed) page or a whole album.

edit: typos
