The earliest known date for the use of New Zealand dues is 1 December 1899. Stamps with FDI cancels exist, I don't have one but these are the earliest dates I have.

Christchurch 13 DE 99

27 DE 99 (can't make out the place) and Devonport 25 DE 99 - collecting tax on Christmas Day!

Wairoa ?? DE 99 and Auckland 13 DE 99

Wellington 6 DE 99 and Napier 18 DE 99

Lyttleton ?? DE 99

Now, this one is a little more problematic, clearly 1897!

Here's another beauty I bought this morning, a clear NO 99 date, prior to the official release date of 1 December 1899.

A clearer scan to follow when the item is received in the mail.

Nice stamps; this is one of several parts of my NZ collection that is still deficient. Good mint copies seem to getting harder to find and more expensive. Nice to see good clean used copies.
