Scott #324a, Sonora Green overprint on Sonora White, Scott #324. When George Linn published his "Mexico: The White and Green Issues of Sonora" in 1916, he wrote that he has recorded 3 copies of this stamp. This number has not been changed or challenged today. Here is one example of that stamp. In 1916, George Linn, publisher of Linn's Stamp magazine, had predicted that this stamp was going to be the rarest Mexican stamp. It is among the greatest rarities in world philately.

Nice scan. Wondering if you've posed the scarcity question to someone in MEPSI, especially Nick Follansbee, as I believe he is an expert on this time period (I think I read that in your prior thread about the inverted surcharge that you got in his auction).

Nick is a good friend of mine. We knew each other since the Kennedy Auctions in Van Nuys, (North to Los Angeles). He knows exactly what I have. He examines my new "valuable" acquisitions that comes without a certificate. This one, however, comes with a MEPSI cert. I have posted quite a few rare items here and you can check the old postings under my user ID. Are you a serious collector? Please email me and get acquainted.

@jr2401: welcome to the forum. And thanks for bringing this thread back. I never saw fotofila's response to me, and invitation. I don't know what he meant by "serious collector." But, Mexico is one of my several primary specialties.

In his reference to "Kennedy Auctions," I wonder if he meant Peter Kenedi of California in Encino? I think that auction house is long gone. I rekindled my still active interest in Portuguese colonies with major purchases from Kenedi in early 1988. I still have the catalog & prices realized; and pull it out occasionally to "drool."
