I think they are both ordinary flat paper, just not saoked in water to remove the excess paper still attached to the back of the stamps.

Is it possible to scan these on a dark background please? Have they been soaked in water or floated off peper in water?

Are the fronts Canada 2c Queen Victoria?

edit: Oops, sorry, I had thought you were asking about Laid paper on a Canada Scott catalogue #32, 2c Green Queen Victoria. See pictures here: https://goscf.com/t/22183&SearchTerms=,32

Puzzler Thank you for your help
Stamps soaked in water for several hours, and I'm photographed by the scanner on a black background.
I've noticed a vertical lines on the back of the stamp, but do not appear only in the shade, and I'm not sure which

Thank you for the large nice scans. The #1 stamp shown is very nice on the front side. Beautiful target cancellation (cancel). On the reverse the slanting lines could be caused by something that the stamp was dried upon or within perhaps? A pressing or a sort.

It is difficult to say without examing the stamp in person though. Good light and looking at the stamp from diferent angles under diferent lighting (shining a light across the stamp at 90 degrees to the slanted lines could help a lot) and even Ultaviolet (UV) lighting may help you.

Sometimes on older stamps such as these the cancel or postmark was applied with a steel hammer or roller and thus could leave an impression that passes through the stamp's paper.

Other opinions are welcomed of course.
