Hi,
Over the last umpteen months I acquired almost 20 Scott International albums - mostly parts 1 & 2. I was looking for that perfect Part 1 and 2 album to store a worldwide collection. Finally, I got a Part 1 that was in good shape, and right now it has over 5000 stamps in it.

Well, all is well with the world - UNTIL - I picked up another one at auction a couple months ago. I found the pages divided into two packages and wrapped in cellophane. I thought the original owner wrapped them that way, but after opening them I realized this was "factory wrapping". Yes, the pages unused - what I call "new - old stock", with a 1955 copyright.

At first I figured I would transfer the 5000 plus stamps from my "keeper" album to the new pages. Ha, just fanning thru the album made me realize it was way more work than I wanted. And, my existing pages look pretty darn good, even if they have a few hinge remnants.

Well, this situation reinforces my thoughts that getting that "right" first album (assuming one wants an album) is a very, very important process.

As I'm currently selling Scott albums on ebay, I guess I'll add the "new - old stock" pages to the line up later on this month.

I think you made the right decision. Unless you were contemplating remounting the collection in the latest four part version, I don't see enough advantages in any of the earlier editions to warrant the effort to move 5000 plus stamps. My own 1969 edition with all its imperfections has become an old friend over the years.

I agree with Bob that the advantages of moving your existing stock to a "new" 1955 edition is not worth the effort.
