Seems like a silly question but........I want to get more mail. One of my favorite things about buying stamps from ebay is the usa and worldwide mail I get. Just curious if others have found ways to get more letters local and worldwide?

Ordering stamp related items usually brings packages and envelopes with several stamps. I once received a large package that had almost a complete sheet of stamps on it. Every time I buy a stamp I get more stamps on the envelope then there are in it. -IBFS |

There are still penpals services in the world and there are groups on Facebook that engage in Postcrossing - the exchange of postcards. |

Quote: Got this a couple weeks ago :) That's the way to get mail! Takes you back a few years. I remember saying wow when I got some of those in my collection many years ago. Quote: ......I want to get more mail. Sometimes I buy just one small thing for a small price, just a curiosity, but it makes it fun. Mail is fun to send and recieve. Canada has a product out called Write Me Back which includes a prepaid large and another smaller enveope and note cards to write (print) a note on. So, you send one to a person and then they have the card and envelope (post paid) to send you back one. A person could crate their own version of this also. |

Write Me Back is genius. Yes it is a twist on a hundred-year-old concept, but it is a good twist.
Send your mailing address to me through the forum email system, and I'll send you mail. Who knows?...might even have a stamp inside, in addition to the stamp (or stamps) on the envelope.
In fact, anyone who wants to get a cover can do the same. Just so I can remember what I agreed to, I have to get the email request with your address by August 8. I don't care if you are on a research assignment to Antarctica. If you mention your interests in ten words or less, I'll see if I can tailor anything. |

Will do Cjd. If you'd like something postmarked from North Dakota, I will send you something as well.
Just thinking big though. What if I wanted 100 pieces of mail every week or every day? - from places all over the world..?
How would one accomplish this? - I purchased a box of old covers the other day, and many of them were sent to companies, or to a single person. He had thousands of them. I even like meters!
Mike33 - Yes, I love those kinds of mail pieces. It is great even that someone took the time to do that.

Reminds me of the story of a kid who was very sick many years ago and who was going to use the kiloware that was collected to help pay for an operation. All that was needed was for people to send an envelope with a stamp from anywhere in the world to him at his address. The canceled stamps would be cut off the envelopes and collected/accumulated until he had enough to sell to pay for his operation. Millions sent envelopes to him with a stamp on it so that it got overwhelming in quantity and when the word went out that he had received enough for his operation and didn't need anymore, it was hard to stop so that it just kept pouring in nonstop so that the post office had to somehow divert and deal with the unwanted envelopes still coming in for some time. |

Sometime you get more stamps than you need as a collector... Got that from a member that I won his auction. When I receive stamps by mail I always take time to look at and even look for the value of the stamps on the envelope first. That's part of the thrill of receiving mail for me. |

timbres667, I am surprised that Canada Post would allow someone to use overlapping stamps like that. How could the PO tell that none of the stamps were cancelled previously, with the cancel hidden under other stamps? |

I have shown this before and the member who send this envelope was ask the same and answer that it is accepted. You just need to want to spend time to do it... Something to show to friends and family. |

I love the above box with all the different stamps! I also am in awe of the above linked refrigerator! I sometimes hear that someone is "not allowed" to place stamps all over an item. Can the USPS person say that? I try to use four to six postage stamps on my mail and frequently need to have it hand cancelled. My little PO person is happy to do so. However, next box I send I'm digging out my stamps to "decorate". I agree that for me it is sometimes the stamps on the item that are the more interesting part of the mailing. |

I have been told by a Canada Post clerk that if the stamp's denomination (amount) shows then and only then is it OK for the stamps to be overlapped, and also that the clerk has to see the stamps beforehand, so as to verify the stamps mint and undamaged state. |
