Yeah, the search engine is funny. Only search for "scott catalogue". Don't type anything else. |

It's a good day for me! Got the Scott Specialized. Someone on another forum offered me a free Brookman 2011. I'm having a good day! |

Dealers often use Brookman for the odd things that Scott does not price, like full sheets and some FDC's with specialized cachets. As a revenue specialist, I love when dealers use Brookman because they only list basic types without listing multiples or varieties. Alas, too few dealers use it except in cases similar to the above. |

My experience is that pricing in the Brookman is similar and sometimes more than Scott catalog values. I don't have one, but worth checking out. |

Ok Guys I've read all the posts and everything stated is true. I downloaded free the Brookman 2010 U.S. Catalog and the prices are all higher than Scott prices. That's why a lot of small time dealers use Brookman to determine their prices. I have the U.S. post Office Guide to U.S. Stamps and the prices in it match the Scott 2013 Catalog that I bought way back in Dec 2012 for $39.99 plus $7.? shipping. I think I paid $29.99 for the 2011 U.S. P.O. Edition. I probably won't but a Scott Specialized again but maybe in about four more years I'll buy a current U.S.P.O. Guide if they are still selling them. I hope this helps but at the current price $39.95 for the Scott. I think I would recommend you order it from AMOS. Especially with the free shipping. Their won't be much difference/change in the 2014 Edition of the Scott Catalog. |

Does the USPS guide deal with all the microprint and perf varieties for US definitives? |

Maybe TinMan is referring to the Brookman pricelist, not the Brookman catalog? The pricelist is an abbreviated pdf of their catalog. It only has a subset of the illustrations (in the form of the older Brookman catalogs, if you have ever seen those), but each Scott number does have stamp description.
You can download the current 2013-2014 pricelist, as well as other subset pricelists from their website. |

If you are looking for the 96-page Brookman pricelist pdf, then go to Brookman.com.

Yes I was referring to the Brookman pricelist. It is in PDF Format and is complete. I probably got the Web Site from Linn's or from the A.P.S. web site? It includes Singles by grade, Also Mint sheets, P.B.'s, and FDC, The U.S.P.S. Guide has singles, Mint and used, P.B.'s and FDC's plus date issued and the quantity in Millions issued. The U.S.P.S. Guide does have some quirks listed too. I mostly use the P.O. Guide Index for stamp Identification and the Scott to make sure I'm not overpaying for any stamps I purchase.
Mystics Showcase also has a list of their prices, ALWAYS SKY HIGH, spread out over about four issues a complete list of Mystic prices for sheets, P.B. ,FDC, Singles both Mint and used. It's complete from scott #2 through current. |

If you're talking about http://www.brookmanstamps.com, those are not the people that make the Brookman catalog. The Brookman catalog is published by coverspecialist.com. EDIT: Ok, now I am really confused. Seems Brookman Stamps also sells the stamp price guide. I'm thinking it's the same company for both sites. |

Andy the link you posted above is the one I have and use. It's in the second box starting with page three. The Brookman Price Guide. I didn't know they made a separate catalog, like Scott. I just thought the price guide was what they went by and all the small time dealers used to determine their prices. I didn't mean to confuse you. This is just my ignorance showing. The only price lists higher than Brookman's is Mystics. |

Mystic has the problems: 1. High prices 2. Se-tenants are strips instead of blocks of 4, or disconnected stamps 3. If they do offer a block of four, they absolutely will not guarantee Scott order number, even if you request it. I tried to a order a se-tenant from them before, because I could not find it anywhere else and despite repeated requests, they refused to guarantee Scott order number. As for catalogs, I order the Scott 2013 for the insane price of $39.95. I put the 2014 Brookman on my Christmas list for my wife to get me. Since the Brookman price is what I pay retail by my house, it's a good gauge to use. If ebay or bidStart can't beat the Brookman price, I'll just take the walk and help keep the local stamp store in business and get my instant gratification. That actually recently just happened with 3484/3484A pair, the 2001 Bison definitive. ebay had it for $8.00. No bidStart. Brookman had it for $9.00. So, I decided to spend the extra dollar and get instant gratification at my local stamp store. I needed to finish designing a page, and had the time to do it then. It was worth the dollar. |

I found the brookman Catalog you were talking about and it's $32.95 for the 2013 edition. Have you looked at prices at Stamps2Go. The prices there seem very reasonable. I haven't looked at Bidstart very much. I like Stamps2Go much better than ebay. once you get used to using Stamps2Go it's very easy to navigate the web site. |
