I believe this is the imperf Russian A9 #131 block of six. My catalogue lists a 'groundwork inverted' type. I assume the "groundwork" is the pale brown. The pale brown appears to be OK. It's the dark brown and orange that looks shifted down and to the right. Is this a common shift?

Also for the #131 it lists "vertical Lozenges of Varnish on Face. Is that the diamond type pattern? Looks kinda like a German water mark.

So this is not the "groundwork inverted" version?

Here is an interesting thread from a few years back that discusses the inverted background.

Cjd. Thanks. I used the link that you posted in that older thread. Excellent.
It appears to be as I thought. My example is a shifted design not a background inversion.
It's funny that the orange center is spot on to the shifted design.

Irregularities are very common in this issue. I thought I had posted a scan here of a block that was absolutely atrocious, but I didn't find it. I'll see where I might have it.

There is some thought that the poorly printed examples are akin to printer's waste. Neat to have, in any event, even if they are not uncommon.
