I've read these stamps are often faked. I'd like to hear what the community thinks about them, as well as any links you've found helpful in identifying weeds.

First, some China treaty port stamps:

A couple from Korea:

Heligoland:

And last but not least, Italy:

I think the bottom two are Sardinia not Italy. These two look OK.

I forgot to mention that I am trying to figure out where to put these stamps. Either my main album or the backup with fakes, reprints and so on. I have a lot to learn about WW stamps, but here's what I think. Please let me know if I'm off base.

I cant find much on the China treaty port stamps. I can't find them in my Scott catalogue, and don't have a specialized. They seem to sell ok on ebay, esp. the Kewkiang. My guess is they're real, not weeds.

Scott says the Korea stamps were never placed in use and counterfeits exist. I guess they are (or were?) Scott #3 and 5. They don't get a regular listing with number, and the numbers jump from 2 to 6. I found great information on these, but it's on another board so I won't put a link. It helped me say without a doubt these are genuine.

The Heligoland are reprints. They go in the backup. I have this tendency to think weeds as forged stamps, but at least in this case most of the fake Heligoland are fake cancels.

The Sardinia Italy stamps are genuine; some color version of #11 and 12. Based on Scott, 11 wasn't reprinted but 12 was. So possible reprint, but I don't see the signs. Most of the forgeries are of the inverted head. I did find a great site for Italy forgeries here (go back to the home page for other options):

So unless I hear from the experts, all but the Heligoland are going in my main album.

EDIT: Thanks Anthony. Glad to hear it, backs up what I was able to find. I spent some time typing all this in, so just saw your response.

My '47 Scott has the three stamp set listed as Scott 3-5, with a notation that they were never placed in use. The modern Scott catalogue has delisted them, but still illustrates them, and gives them a value ($19-$20).

Thanks Jkjblue, I didn't even think to check that in my old catalogue.

As a former US only collector, one of the many things I love about WW is so many of the beautiful 19th century stamps are very affordable.
