Hello, I am quite active over on the coin forum so this is my first post on the stamp side.

I recently bought a large coin collection and in with it was these complete 2 1/2 pence sheets.

Just counted now and I have 11 of these complete sheets (240 stamps each if my maths is correct.) all in a similar condition.

My interest lies more within coins rather than stamps so do these hold much value and would they be worth selling?

If not I might frame a few sheets!

Wow! You have 11 sheets of the same value?
The 2½ d Carmine-red stamps were issued between 1952 and 1965. There are three possible watermarks. The sheet markings are collectible... the "arrows" both V and W shapes. Of great interest will be the cylinder markings... count 18 stamps down from the top of the sheet and see the number printed on the left of the stamp...two possibles exist ( dot and no dot). Many collectors have cylinder blocks in their collection and will pay a very decent premium.
Find the watermark and you find the year or years of the issue.

This puts the quantity into a better perspective...

The serial numbers are as followed:
326862 56
326868 56
326876 56
326878 56
326880 56
326882 56
326884 56
326886 56
326888 56
326906 56
557297 53(dot)

So does that mean that all apart from one sheet they were all printed in 1956?
Im a little unsure of the cylinder markings, I presume none of these have any?

The cylinder number such as your 56 or 53 is not the year of printing. It identifies the printing cylinder (like plate) used for the process. The watermark will identify the year or years that the stamps were printed as there were three types used as years progressed. First was a Tudor Crown... then a St Edwards Crown... then Crowns (which I suspect your sheets are). Hold a sheet up to the light and you might see a load of crowns and no letters E R. That would made it 1959 or after.
A cylinder block of six (six stamps that include the stamp with a number 56 (dot or no dot) might be worth several pounds ...say £5 for a quick calculation. That is how I would have them but many others would want bigger blocks of even up to a whole sheet.

Edit: just want to add that varieties exist and a whole sheet is useful for identifying where on the sheet a variety can be found.

Thanks Scotzm I really appreciate your help. If I was going to sell, what would be a fair asking price per sheet or for the collection as a whole? (Would be nice if they managed to cover the cost of the collect I got them in )

Value would depend on the watermark to some extent. Whole sheets are not the usual way of collecting for size reasons. Plate blocks would sell for around £5 UK each which gives you eleven plate blocks. As a complete sheet I GUESS a price of 15-20 pounds each. As each stamp can be attributed to a position on the plates, I would expect some collectors to want certain blocks of stamps which would include any known constant variety on that particular plate for instance.
