Hey floortrader, I would never knock anyone doing what they enjoy. Go for it. Just not for me. Perforations?????? nuts...
I learned long ago that if you look at something long enough you will always find a flaw. Someone else, maybe not find the same flaw..lol.
I thought my wife was flawless on the first date...then we had a second and bingo...FLAW showed up but I choose to ignore it. 31 years married and still very happy. I am sure she found many more than I and still puts up with them. lol.
One last thought about the forum and hobby. It seems that many take it far too serious and maybe forget about the fun and enjoyment that brought us to it in the first place. When you get too deep we need to come up for air. |

I've made a resolution that if I start 'flyspecking' I'll stop with the stamp collecting but I respect anyone who wants to do it that way. Tom |

Sorry guys, already trademarked and registered although I do allow for licensing agreements :D |

I would like to say Celticveil said almost perfectly what I wanted to say. I have added a copy of his comments below so you all can see it again. It is very difficult to run a site specially to make it good for 90% or more of the people that use it. Bobby the rules I have seen here appear fair and yes some are restrictive but this allows a no chaotic site to evolve. I want to restate that I appreciated this site and it has been a lot of help for me getting back into the hobby though I have not posted a lot on the site I read it daily and it has been very beneficial. You have brought together what I think is a very large variation of knowledge and some great experts from around the world. Please don't abandon this site just because a few do not agree with what you created or monitor. If they do not like the way it is run and think they can do better it may be nice to see what their site will look like in the future. Keep up the good work and thank you again.
"Bobby131313, judging by your posts and your title of Forum Dad, can I deduce that this is your website/forum?
If so, thank you! I appreciate this site and all the valuable information contained here, the helpful members and general awesomeness that is SCF.
Also, don't take anything said here as 'THAT'S HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE!' People will have issues no matter what the forum layout or operational type is available. Could things be better? Yes, things can always be improved upon and tweaked. You don't necessarily know exactly what the outcome will be though, so it's an at-risk venture.
Please view our comments (as long as they're not nasty and directly aimed at offending) as creative criticism, i.e. not designed to tell you whats good or bad, but a collection of ideas and suggestions on what might work to make things better. Of course, 'better' is in the eyes of the beholder so there's no way to please absolutely EVERYBODY here. You'll always have some displeased folks no matter which way you turn. Just ignore them. You're doing a great job here and the amount of posts and interest in this thread shows that the community is active.
In the end this is YOUR forum. You decide how things operate. If someone takes offense to that then they can move on. There should always be a level of respect shown to admins, operators and mods of any website. There's always room for disagreements (thats human nature) but there is no room for disrespect and disgraceful behavior. Disagreements can and should be discussed in a respectful manner by all sides.
Use our ideas or discard our ideas. Either way, I love this site and support whichever layout and functions you implement." |

Also need to add that should someone feel that there's no interesting posts on the board, MAKE AN INTERESTING POST YOURSELF! Have a specific interest you don't see reflected on the board? POST IT and see who responds! No one here owes anyone anything in terms of educational or entertaining content. I'm enjoying the wide variety of posts, though I don't often respond to each one (as at present I have little to contribute, especially about specialized collections, but I have a lot to learn).
Want interesting posts? Want new focus and educational/entertaining content? Step up to the plate and provide! You never know what might make a splash on the forum. |

Everyone's had a few threads that don't raise much interest. So be it. Different strokes... |

How can this board be boring when I come back to read this thread every day? |

This thread is getting boring. This is an excellent stamp forum. I have no problems with newbies posting stuff that may seem trivial to experienced collectors because it is our job to keep the hobby exciting and interesting, and help newcomers.
Like others who have said, if it is boring YOU post something that is interesting. |

Quote: I wonder what the longest thread is. This has got to be the longest ... or at least ONE of the longest threads I've seen on this site. It's great there was so much interest in the subject that the thread extended for 97 pages -- but it can also get very hard to determine what has or has not been shown or commented on before: https://goscf.com/t/11887&whichpage=97 |

More stuff that others call "flyspecking". Notice the snow in the saddle between the two peeks . Got hundreds of them like this thru out my collection ,I get ticked off when people call this "fly specking" but turn around and call some people "experts" on U.S. early material that take a very strong glass to even see the differences of plate variations that with out a detail explanation you would never see the difference and the U.S. Scott specialized catalog feeds these FLYSPECKERS .----there feel better now ---lol |

I didn't want to disrupt a active discussion to change the title ,especially with those less frequent posters adding their comments. I was just adding my view of FLYSPECKING and as you can see ,sometimes it is misunderstood .Don't understand why your computer is loosing the scan . |
