I've gotten a little tired of trying to sell on ebay. Seems the market (for me anyway) has bottomed out. I took 3 stock books of stamps to a dealer not far from work around Christmas time. Went in today because I hadn't heard from him. So he quickly leafed through and said " is 75 ok?". My response was "dollars???" Sure wasn't expecting that much. Know where I'll be taking them from now on. |

I stored my duplicates in the 12-row Manila stock pages in regular 3-ring binders. |

I sell mine as mixtures on ebay, but I'm usually acquiring more than I'm selling, so my total number of duplicates keeps rising. I'm thinking about running a classified in Linn's to see if I can get rid of more of them that way. But mostly for now they sit in glassines or (on a very short term basis) in baggies. I've easily got 2-3 pounds or more of duplicates off paper(probably 10-15,000 stamps or more) and there's no way I'm going to do much sorting other than by country and possibly to separate out the higher valued items to sell separately. I'm really tempted to just put the whole pile on ebay at once and just see what happens, come what may. |

But how can I create some good lots for selling my duplicates on ebay? Auctions that also sell, of course |

The question was about management not how to dump your duplicates .I see very little thought has gone in to the subject .-----------------------------------------so here is what I done .Since my purchases invouled better stamps and collections .Two factors come into play, first the system must be expandable because a collector never knowns what he is going to be getting a year or two and even ten years down the road . The second important factor is organization ,both to know what you have and to find items {this is important as each year the catalogs keep adding new perfs, color shades and new listings to older stamps. Your duplicates need to show organization and if its a bunch of glassines and Tupperware tubs ,then your telling a buyer or dealer its worth 1/4 of a cent per stamp. ..........MORE LATER . |

Yes floortrader, you're right. But I have bought some albums as shown here: There can I put my duplicates in. So this question is now solved. That explains my next question, about selling stamps on ebay. Is it okay if I make a new topic? Greetings, Rik |

Those binders are expensive for duplicates .First my understanding is that most collectors here buy cheaper stamps and that they have multiple duplicates .I have found those binders don't hold up well when you pile stamps on others and then every few years you start to move those stamps around in the stockbook. Those glassine pockets become too loose over time ,great for one stamp per space and will hold it for years. But don't use those binders for a continuous moving inventory around . Just my two bits .....more later. |

Okay, maybe not the "correct" solution for my problem. But what are "glassine pockets"?? Can you show a picture of those pockets? Many thanks, Rik EDIT: Are these pockets the same as, what we call in Holland "pergamijnzakjes"? I hope you mean these pockets: |

Here are the glassine pockets in a stockbook ,they are great for one or two stamps overlapping but for duplicates and the moving around stamps will cause them to be come loose after a few years of use . |

I've got most of my duplicates in glassine envelopes and dealers cards for the more valuable things.I've seen duplicates in stockbooks but the books don't close properly etc. Now.. to find a way to get rid of duplicates! |
