Hi,

I've decided to branch out to USA revenue stamps and just ordered the Scotts National pages for them.

I've a few I've been looking up and can't seem to locate in the catalog.

They appear to be late 1800s or early 1900s, and have "US Inter Rev" or "US Inter Revenue" written on them - but nothing else that describes their usage. Do you have any ideas on them?

I also have one that says "bank check", which is a mystery to me as well.

I'm still not on speaking terms with photobucket so I have no pics.

Thanks all!

Have a look at this neat site :)

Probably referring to 3rd issue Revenues.

The bank check is a first issue revenue. The others might be proprietary or documentary revenues. A scan would make it possible to know for sure if you can't find them on Dan's site.

Ok, that's a big help.
As a follow up, what were the internal revenue stamps used for? And (I'm embarrassed to ask), what is a "bank check"?
