Here is a site that has listed just about every printer
under the sun whoever printed a stamp.

And much more information and a wide variety of articles
which will give you hours of enjoyable reading.

I'm sure a lot of members are already aware of the site but
I believe it really fits in this forum and will be
extremely useful in the future, therefore I want
to give it a plug.

It is by SCF member 65170 Glenn Morgan

Glenn I just finished reading your latest Dummy Stamp Newsletter
(Issue 35 - Quarter Three 2014)
and have to tell you, what an enjoyable and informative read.
You present everything so well and it's easy to follow.

Have these User-definable Screens been used on other US stamps
since 1997.
Who was the printer?

I know that Ashton-Potter was one of the first printers to use
micro-printing.

Here is a link Glenn's site showing all the Dummy Stamp Newsletters.

Anyone who has any kind of interest in stamp printing, do
yourself a favour and check these out.
You won't regret it but I warn you, reading this stuff is
addictive and you will want to read one back issue after another.
And bingo, 3 hours are gone by.

Lithograving, Your kind words are much appreciated. Issue 36 of Dummy Stamps will be online soon, hopefully by this coming Monday, via the link that you provide above.

As for the website, I have not updated it for some time, as I am working on a series of handbooks relating to the printers and their dummy stamp output. I have nearly finished ten volumes relating to Great Britain, with more than 900 pages of A4 in total.

As for User-Definable Screens, I have not sought any further issues, as I really only wanted that first example for my collection. The printer of the stamp was Ashton-Potter (USA) Ltd. who produced 25.3 million copies, one of the smallest modern-day orders for a commemorative stamp apparently. It was sold in sheets of 20. Varela's portrait is by Keith Birdsong of Muskogee, Okla.

Regards, GLENN
