Not sure what to make of this one.

Appears printed as opposed to applied by hand.

What part of the stamp or cancellation are you specifically talking about?

The color bleed around the out side of the stamp and just below the POCZTA! Under magnification it does not appear to be applied with a marker or other device. It's not part of the cancel.

Very curious stamp indeed... For a second I thought it might be a faded 1921 Sluck Uprising overprint but it does not have a margin look-a-like zigzag line like you see on this stamp.

CISNA, 1919 Pd6, provisional Postage Due overprint

From the Fischer catalogue, for review purposes.

There was a lack of Postage Due stamps in Southern Poland in 1919 so the Ministy of Posts & Telegraphs authorised local Post Offices to overprint their stocks of definitive stamps for this use. Their are at least 167 types, many of them completely philatelic. Some were pre-printed in sheets & used as needed, others were only overprinted on cover so only used copies are known.

As well as being used for regular Postage Due on mail, they were also used on Money Orders & Parcel Receipts

Money Order from Lublin, 2 VI 1919, to Krakow 4 VI 1919, for 500 Korony with 50hal PKL eagle issue overprinted "porto"

Front

Back

Note the "Lublin" & "Krakow" postmarks are war-time Austrian KUK types which have had the Austrian sections removed, this was a quick way of getting Polish cancellers

Super stuff.

The only downside is that I had talked myself out of getting a Fischer catalogue, and now it is clear that I have to put it back near the top of the list.
