Interesting to see that gap between KAP and ELLESTRAAT for KAPELLESTRAAT. Now, it looks like it comes from an ad for a new brand of fish fingers. |

Stationcancels, I agree, these cancellations are quite attractive when shown in their entirety. I appreciate you sharing. What does the TT stand for in the top section of the first image? |

amccleaf1.... Tour et Taxis railway station or Thurn en Taxis railway station is a railway station in Laeken, Brussels, Belgium, opened in 1883. |

A very interesting waybill showing a variety of cancel types. Circle date, chamfered rectangle, and single line. |

Decades ago, when I first started on the 1st edition of Chamfered Railway Cancels, one of the early challenges was determining if some of the mid 20th century devices were, in fact, chamfered. Some are clearly not while others, like this one, can be ambiguous with either rounded or very small notched corners. I was persuaded to include them in the database and future scholars will have to decide for themselves how they categorize them. |

This one has challenged me for decades. The " - " after HAVINNES in the top space would seem to indicate another word to follow as so many cancels do. The empty (removed) bottom space would also indicate a missing phrase or name. Does anyone know what was in the space before it was removed? I have never been able to find an example of the unaltered device. |

May have been Havinnes - Village. It closed 3 June 1984. Maybe, the cancel was re-used after removing the 'villages.' |

amccleaf1, those are great additions, here is a tougher Grembergen variety to look for if you don't already have it... |

https://goscf.com/t/85098#793198For anyone willing to participate in the Belgium Railway Chamfered Rectangles Station Cancels Database Study project, I have posted the letter A cancels to the link attached and I hope to gain more participation as we have already greatly expanded the list of known cancels. This project is now, and will always be, published and distributed freely to all collectors to better our hobby and this often-overlooked specialized field of study. Thanks especially to those who have already participated in what is quickly approaching 50 years of my own studies and closer to 100 years based on the input from past contributors, many of whom are no longer with us. |
