I wonder if some of you can help me decide which UV lamp to buy.
It turns out that there is long-wave and short-wave.
I wonder if, as a Canadian stamp collector, I need both.
Is one better for paper varieties and another for tags?
One flyer said that short-wave was used for Winnipeg tags.
Incidentally, are these tags fading? Will they eventually disappear?
I know one "migrated"... into oblivion?
Canada Post sells these lamps. I wonder if they're good?
Thanks in advance for your help.

This is being discussed here or on another forum at this moment. The answer apparently for Canada is that tags are in both UV long and short range. I use a Staples UV money verifier - MERANGUE - but I have no idea whether it is long or short.

Sak, as Canadastamp writes, this subject has been talked about a lot. Personally I use a handy little, portable light that works great on US stamps. It is a 4 Watt short- and long wave UV light and can be bought from www.UVtools.com.
Their phone number is 512-775-1416. The same light can be bought from the folks at Amos Asdvantage at a slightly higher price.

Mine is a Raytech hand held model "LS - 4".

I find it satisfactory for all of my needs.
