I recently received several philatelic exhibition souvenir sheets in with a large lot of OG 1930's-50's commeratives....silly question, how do most folks mount these in albums? I've never collected them before, but I'm aware there are "corner mounts" of the sort that used to be used for photos or are there stamp mounts from the usual suspects that are of such a size to handle these? Thanks for any tips. John P.S.- We're not talking full sheets, but the Index Card sized (1936, etc.) approximately 3 x 5 inch.

Hi John. Scott ( Prinz ) makes a complete line of mounts that includes mounts custom made for souvenir sheets. You can find them listed at Amos Advantage, or for a cheaper way at Global Stamps ( www.globalstamps.com ) I do not think that photo corners are very good for souvenir sheets!

I use mounts too. Sometimes I use 1-pocket or 2-pocket vario pages to mount them in.

Will check the Prinz variety as I'm an Advantage buyer...Global's cheaper? who'd have guessed. I'd consider Vario also except the Heirloom album has distinct spots to mount these on the pages.....so I thought I'd take advantage of that. Thanks. John

I don't collect many S/S, but when I do acquire one that I keep, I use the least expensive and least bulky method for mounting, that is, the clear, acid-free corner mounts. If stored away from a constant light source, there should be no resulting discoloration of the corners. I've used these for at least ten years with no apparent damage to sheets so mounted.

However, everyone needs to use what he/she feels comfortable with.

Don
