I'm sure anyone reading this far has 'gotten this' by now, but if you have even a passing interest in Canada, get a Unitrade. It will increase your enjoyment many times over.

Not having paid attention to the first several Harris editions, I assumed that nothing much had changed, and that Scott Classic was still enough for me, as a collector primarily interested in KGV material.

I was wrong. Get a Unitrade.

I'm trying to think of a constructive recommendation I could make to improve it for my purposes, and I'm drawing a blank.

I like your specialized Canada catalogs that I have been collecting them since your first 2006 one. (studystamps?)

As a stamp collector myself, I have added data and features that I would personally like to see in a specialized catalogue.

Each year I have tried to add a couple of new features ... this year is proving hard to come up with something! (not counting the new Canada Post issues, which are taking up more and more space every year).

I do know that Unitrade Associates tries very hard to keep the catalogue the same price from year to year. Even though we have added 120 pages to the catalogue since the 2005 edition, there has only been one price increase in that time ... at a whole $1. One would be hard pressed to find a better bargain anywhere else - less than $3 a month.

I suspect that adding section tabs throughout the catalogue would add something to the cost (I have nothing to do with getting price quotes, etc. regarding the direct printing of the catalogue). I will pass your suggestion along.

I am delighted that you have decided to join us here at SCF, Robin! It takes a brave person to put themselves into the public realm and risk criticism - I am sure you are well aware that you will never please everyone.

That said, I cannot thank you enough for your work on the Unitrade catalogue! I have been using them for ~3 years (first buying a 2006 version for $5) and no longer refer to Scott for anything Canada. I now purchase a new Unitrade catalogue every year for a myriad of reasons - including quality, price, and content.

It is the latter that impresses me the most.

As you stated before, you try to update more than just new releases in the catalogue, which makes it worthwhile for any Canada specialist to purchase an updated copy each and every year. I still marvel at the price of this catalogue! I pointed out in a thread just three weeks ago that I found a source on ebay selling the 2014 catalogue for a mere $35/ea!

Thanks Rileysan. I have been a member of SCF for a number of years, just under a different 'name'.

Hopefully through these discussions collectors will get a better insight into how the catalogue comes together. I do welcome comments (good or bad) about the catalogue. Every effort is made to make a superior product.

The retail price of the catalogue is $43.95 (plus taxes, depending on where you live).

Dealers get a discount when they buy in quantity (I'm not involved in that part of the company). The dealer can then sell the catalogue for anything they wish. As time goes on, I suspect that some dealers will sell it for less so they are not stuck with extras when the next edition comes out.

I know of some stamp clubs who will buy a quantity each year and pass a bit of a discount onto their members.

By the way, I understand that Unitrade Associates has sold out of the 2014 edition; dealers will likely still have some in stock though.

I also am a big fan of the Unitrade Catalogue. I purchase a new one every second year. I would be lost without it though I still haven't quite figured out the large queens yet.

I only have a couple of Large Queens ... not nearly enough to even think of studying (darn); I'm certainly no expert in that series.

Dianne Earl..If you think it is difficult figuring out Large Queens, read Unitrade..I think Small Queens are even harder.

I too would like to add my appreciation for the great work you have been doing with the Unitrade Catalogue and Corgi Times.

As an aside,I also find good use for the 5.3 to 10 perforation gauge you have made available. On this note, is there any plan to produce the perforation gauge using heavier acetate??

The 'coarse' perf gauge was/is an Elizabethan II Study Group (of BNAPS) initiative.

I created the template while another member of our group did the 'production'. He runs the acetate sheets through his laser printer I believe (the gauge may not be 100% exact, but for the purposes of the die cut measuring, even 99.?% is accurate enough). This member donated his time and the materials.

I do not expect that we will get them printed on thicker stock.
