Hi guys...Take a look at this Scott #247i stamp...Unitrade classifies it as a re-entry...I would not have realized it..There are 5 steps that are shifted down towards the bottom of the stamp, but hey..neat stamp..Thanks.

Hi wert, This is common on this issue. There are several positions that show a re-entry of the black lines at the base of the monument. I don't see it on this copy

Wert, to me it looks like the monument is sinking! That is not a re-entry, the black is printed too low!

Hi wert, Here is one of my re-entered copies. Not sure of the position on this one.

The re-entered steps are very subtle. If you don't see it here check this link and scroll down to 247:

I went to the site posted by Watermark. The lines inside the brown are NOT the re-entries. The real re-entries, according to the website, are very weak and in the top steps!

Not a re-entry, but since it is a 2 colour stamp, appears to be a shift of the black colour to the bottom

Yes Gilles le timbre...That's what it is...Mine is a 5 step shift and watermark's is a 4 step shift in the black colour.

watermark is referring to the re-entry on the stairs (not the shift).
It is not clear in his scan.

As he mentions, there is more than one position on this stamp that shows the re-entry (some more than others).

I have several different, but can't find my scans at the moment.

The re-entry site has an example of this.

BTW, the stamp right below on the page (4c Citizen) was mine.

Here is another example of the re-entered steps I hope this shows a little better. This is a different position than the first one I posted. The doubling appears as faint second lines below the bold lines in the black steps. The lines are very close together so an image is hard to get.
The re-entry occurs only on the plate used to print the black of the monument, steps and bushes. The plate that prints the brown is not re-entered. The stamp was printed from two separate plates and the misalignment of the colors in the stamps depended on how the plates were aligned during printing.

There are actually 3 steps in front of the centre column and 5 steps on either side of this column. The pic in the upper left corner shows all the steps while the pair show only some of the stairs on either side of the column and done of the stair in front of the centre column.

Here is a version with only two side steps still visible. Not a re-entry, but a significant step shift.

Not a re-entry, but I found a poor example with even a lower vignette. Here, the bottom steps are almost completely hidden.
