Here is a new one to my collection--completing my goal to have all the Gilbert issued stamps on an envelope, in one swoop.

Generally, I do not like philatelic inspired items like this--purposely done for that sake versus ordinary use...but I just found it art like and captivating. Note the care with all the cancels to just touch the stamps. And the care of the symmetry of the stamps positions.

Any comments?

Purists will object, I am sure, but this kind of cover is the type that will attract newcomers to collecting. Everything well set out...and well thought out.
A simply stunning FDC.

A lovely cover! There can't be too many of these floating around - I've never seen one, anyway... John

I collect Newfoundland FDC and I can tell you that complete sets of the Humphrey Gilbert set are not common, especially in very fine condition with a commercial corner card and neat typewritten address.

Wonderful cover! Philatelic - yes - but that's one of the points of stamp sets like this, to neatly display them on a cover for the first day release to be proudly shown.

"Philatelic" covers often get a bad rap IMHO.
