As I was looking for an extra Scott 219D, I came across this cover from a telescope dealer
named J. A. Brashear. The yeardate in the Allegheny, PA postmark is a little hard to make out
but I believe it is 1893.

John Brashear was an internationally known lensmaker and became interim director of the Allegheny Observatory in 1898.

Interesting corner card. Wasn't aware that
polarizing eye pieces, diffraction grating,
and spectroscopes went back that far.

Rock Salt prisms I wonder what the lifespan would have been and how much it would deteriorate in the air or if they had something to seal the prism

Hello,

I'm interested in both Brashear and O'Halloran history. By any chance, is there anything written on the reverse of the postcard?
