I have a lot of pages like these and also a ton of swastikas, A.M. Post, feldpost and of course the "Hitler heads". I wish to know what catalog would work best for ID-ing these. I think these are Bavarian and some have a "Free State" overprint. Does anyone know what Free State meant, and why it was neccesery to make an overprint? I legitamately don't know? These are only a very few of the pages I'm dealing with but these were a bit different than the bulk of them so that's why I chose these to scan.

Also, Is there any stamps on these pages I should put a little more attention too (like varieties and inverted watermarks and the like?). Any help wold appreciated. I can't wait to start getting these sorted and in order.

pg. 1.) Embossed crests -

pg. 2.) Without overprint (mostly) -

pg. 3.) With overprints -

pg. 4.)

pg. 5.)

For Germany, nothing even comes close to Michel's "Deutschland Spezial".

Hi I_Love_Stamps
You are asking for the reason of the overprints on the Bavarian stamps.
Well, we had a revolution in 1918 which overthrew our royalty i.e. King Ludwig III.
In the beginning so we had a Volkstaat. The revolution was more radical (socialist
as communists did not really count then)than most people liked, so an internal war began.
The partial restoration overthrew the government of the Volksstaat in a very bloody
armed struggle and with the help of troups from northern Germany. Then Bavaria was
called a Freistaat.
