Stamp Insider for May–June 2014

The May–June issue of the <I>Stamp Insider</I>, journal of the Federation of New York Philatelic Societies, is online and available for free download in PDF format or viewing online with page turning. It is available in both PDF and HTML5-friendly format at:

In the lead article — "Advertising Mohonk" — author Diane DeBlois explores ways the historic Catskill resort in the Shawangunk Mountains near New Paltz promoted itself through the US mails. The piece calls attention to a program she and Robert Dalton Harris will present at the Third Northeast Postal History & Ephemera Show on July 26–27: "Philatelic History of Vacationing in New York State."

Other articles include: "Let the Celebrations Begin: 75th and 50th Anniversaries of New York World's Fairs" and "Into the Jaws of Death: Remembering the Longest Day." June 6 marks the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

The journal has a new columnist. Steve B. Davis of Calgary, Alberta, is contributing "Via Airmail," which will focus mainly on US postal history.

The featured video — "Stamp Production" — traces stamp production history from nineteenth-century hand-operated presses to modern offset production with print runs in the billions.
