I just purchased a Berlin collection with parallel mint and used everything, with a good 95% completion of the country to get me back started collecting the area again. It has a few better items (two red overprint high vals used signed Schlegel, first semipostal set MNH, etc.), but the item below I counted for ZERO value when evaluating the collection.

The sheet catalogs US$500 in Scott as mint hinged, and US$2,150 as used. As fake cancels are ubiquitous, without certification or at least a more experienced eye, I'm assuming the cancels are bogus.

What say ye?

Assuming for the moment that the cancels are in fact manufactured but the sheet itself is genuine, does the item have any residual value as a spacefiller?

US$200?
US$50?
$0?

Thanks.

I definitely agree that the cancellations are bogus - but I can't offer any proof. Be sure to get a more in-depth analysis before making a final decision on the status of the cancels.

As far as value is concerned, I wouldn't be so quick to throw this one under the bus. These sheets are uncommon and are probably missing from the vast majority of Berlin specialized collections out there.

I would treat it thusly: unused (no gum), with stains on the front (the fake cancellations). My opinion is that this still has a retail value of ~$100.
