Wert, I think you forgot something. If an 85 cent stamp costs a dollar, what would a 15 cent stamp cost?

It must be taking into account the added labour cost involved of separating the miniature pane into four parts. LOL |

$1.50 difference. It's one of those, nobody noticed it until you did wert. Are you an accountant by chance? The mini sheet total price could be increased by $1.50, or the PB lowered by $1.50, or some combination there-of. As mentioned, there is the labour to break up the sheet. $1.50 sound fair? |

This reminds me of the minimum price that Scott catalogues used to have for penny stamps in their catalogs at more than a penny due to the labour costs involved which were also factored in. |

Pricing makes perfectly good sense to me. An intact mini worth more than the sum of its parts. |

An intact miniature pane (of 16 unseparated intact stamps together in total) should be worth more such as a premium than the sum of its separate parts (separate plate block of 4 stamps plus 3 separate blocks of 4 stamps). |

Quote: Pricing makes perfectly good sense to me. CanadaStamp...It dosent make sense to me..Maybe I am way out in left field on this one, but if I am reading this pricing in Unitrade, it would be worth more money to me to break it up into 3 blocks and 1 plate block...Now I never sell stamps, I collect them...But if I was a seller, wouldn't it make sense to break up every mini sheet I got my hands on. Where are you Robin...??I need your help on this one.Somebody agree with me, or set me straight.. |

In the long run, if everyone did this, there would be no more mini sheets and the price would go up. |

wert, I agree and so does jogil. There is a $1.50 increase in total catalog value if the sheet is broken up. However, there could be some labour consideration, or it may just be a slight error.
If it bothers you, I'm Robin will have an answer. Perhaps just a slight change in the next edition. I rarely take notice of these as selling stamps will rarely get you anything like CV. |

Of course the pricing in the catalog is theoretical (though supposedly based on empirical evidence). What these different items would actually sell for depends on a lot of factors including demand.
Its possible this contributors to this thread have put more thought into the question than the catalog editors did and the difference in pricing is merely a rounding error, (e.g., perhaps they don't worry whether these items tally up and just look at empirical evidence from sales?).
If this was US I would have less confidence in the block prices than those for the mini-sheet or singles. |

Wert. when I mentioned the 85 cent stamp that costs a dollar I was making fun of Canada Post's new sales policy and comparing it to your miniature sheet! I do believe this must be a Unitrade oversight. I am myself a proofreader for a catalog, and you would not believe how difficult it is to go over numbers for hours at end! Sometimes you can see something like what you found in the catalog ten times without ever noticing the problem! Come to think of it, if you would let the editor know he'd probably appreciate it! Hi everybody
This is a great academic exercise, but in reality you can't get anywhere near the catalogue value if you try to sell the mini sheet or blocks or inscription blocks or singles. These things are like belly buttons in that everybody who wants one has one. Club auctions barely return face value.
