Phil - No, another lot. The Australia package showed up after 12.5 weeks. Dkabq8 - Not ebay. I do not buy any large lots there. I buy at auction and get the lots that people like NYStamp buy and break up. Much cheaper overall and I get the goodies if there are any. |

No reason other than I like that "cattle" design (and the price was right!) |

I ordered my 2017 Mystic Heirloom supplement last Thursday and arrived today. It shipped same day. Yet I also received a separate mailer (included a receipt and some price lists) from Mystic saying it was backordered! |

An addition to my WWII German occupation of western Poland (German: Gau Wartheland) collection. This one has a provisional cancel of the hamlet/crossroads of Rothenburg. The card was subsequently postmarked in Wollstein to the southwest. Rothenburg appears to have disappeared at the end of the war. On the rather detailed Freytag u. Berndt map of Poland, there is nothing indicated on the map where it would have been. Souvenir cards of the German occupiers are still fairly abundant. Many appear to have created by stamp collectors, or dealers. |

I don't know if this qualifies for this topic, but..........Gripe of the day. I've always suspected this happens. I was expecting a valuable package that was being sent priority mail. Provided tracking showed it was due to be delivered today. I live on a cul-de-sac and happened to see the mail truck as it entered. Anticipating the knock on the door I waited at the front window to head the carrier off before they knocked so the dogs wouldn't bark. Watched as the truck went around the block, and then to the bank of mailboxes that included mine. Truck passes my house and goes on to the next bank of mailboxes. I hurry outside and get my mail. Contained in my mail is one of those slips that say "Sorry we missed you, you can come to the post office or indicate another day for delivery." I hustle over to the mail truck and confront the mail carrier. She starts stammering and asking me if I was home yesterday (Sunday) then corrects to Saturday. (I know from the tracking that the package was in Memphis on Saturday, but don't mention this fact.) I tell her I'm retired and am almost always home. I get my package after signing for it. Many times in the past I've gotten that notice when I was home (but not at the front window) and have had to chase down the mail carrier in my neighborhood. Always suspected that if they got behind in their deliveries that they made up time by doing something like this, but I'm a cynic. |

Howell1018, you are not alone. It has happened to me also, but I am not as lucky as you. When the mail truck passes my house it is gone! I will have to go to the Post Office or wait a few days,

This antique mailbox was in my mailbox today. A philatelic turducken! There is some irony that the cast aluminum box depicts an ironworker at his forge. |

Fortunately, here, unless you live in a block of flats, post is delivered to your door. If I'm out, parcels will be left with one of my neighbours. Given the amount of junk I buy, I've developed pretty good relations with postal staff over the years. Perhaps the high point was when, in dropping off a parcel one afternoon, the Parcel Force driver told me that he'd passed by earlier at 8am, but, noticing my curtains were still drawn, he'd decided not to wake me up! |

Received this beautiful cover from a Delcampe seller from UK. No marker monkeys, no crude labels. Well done Royal Post and Japan Post ! And inside this envelope was my very first lot of US "Pointed Hand" auxiliary postmark covers, just recently got inspired by the topic on these attractive postmarks. https://goscf.com/t/56523 Always learning new things through this Community, thanks to all ! - Hironobu |
