Canada Comparing Large Queens And Small Quuens

Canada Comparing Large Queens and Small Queens parts of the world known as Large heads and Small heads Queens.

Over the years some people have asked me, and possibly others, about the actual size of large Queen stamps compared to small Queen stamps.

I saw this picture online in the past and thought there was a fair comparison made, all in one picture, same sized resolution, etc.

Does anyone have other pictures of comparisons?

Beaver, 2x Large Queens, 10x Small Queens.

Attached is a scan of this very subject that I did 24 hours ago in response to a question directed to the Greene Foundation. It shows the comparative size of an average Large and Small Queen.

Basically the 1/2 cent large queen is generally the same size as all the small queens with the exception of the 1/2 cent small queen which I believe was made even smaller so as not to be confused with the earlier 1/2cent. All other large queens 2c thru 15c are the same as GPortch shows above. Then we also have the 20 and 50c widow weeds that are in the small queen family but are the size of the large queens. So in a nut shell the actual sizes are just as confusing as trying to study either .

Why don't you look at the stamp designs they are completely different? I have never had any trouble telling them apart.

I've had different people ask me how I tell these stamps apart from one another so when I found the first picture above I said there you go.

What designs are you mentioning perhaps Similar stamps are hard enough to tell if you only have two or three. Maybe a new topic or the same?

Actually, the Queen is the same size on both issues.
It's the frame that is large or small. Who wants to be the first to start calling them "Large Frame" and "Small Frame"?

You know, I've never noticed that. I just thought that because the frame and whole stamp was bigger, then the Queen's portrait had to be bigger too. Neat, thank you.

I misread the question, thinking it asked why I didn't look at different stamps. not the same stamp/

I see that the designs are different from the Small Queens and the Large Queens (mostly) by reading the 2 cents on the large ones instead of just seeing a numeral 2 on the small ones. Ah me.

It's neat how the 2c green Large Queen hides amids the others.

All of the large queens have the denomination spelled out like "2 two cents 2", "3 three cents 3", etc.
Most of the small queens have the denomination numbered out like "2 cents 2", "3 cents 3", etc.
The only exceptions are the "half 1/2 cent" and "1 one cent 1" which occur the same for both.
However, there are three "1's" on the large queen and two "1's" on the small queen.
For the large queen the 1/2 is outside between two curves (parentheses) ")1/2(".
For the small queen the 1/2 is inside between two straight lines [brackets] "[1/2]".

Not only is the size of the frame different, but the sizes of the stamps on small queens can vary...The picture below is part of a paper I am trying to write on small queens..There are big differences in stamp sizes to...The numbers you see are pixel numbers to indicate measurements.
