Sorry. That Times-Union article is a bit confusing as they refer to both North Hoosick and Hoosick. Apparently the latter (as you stated) is the one closing:

As to whether or not the North Hoosick, NY post office is the second smallest in the country, the NY Times article from 2011 (posted above) made the following correction as a footnote:
Quote:
Correction: August 20, 2011
An article on Wednesday about the post office in North Hoosick, N.Y., which the Postal Service is considering closing, erroneously attributed a distinction to it. At 12 feet by 20 feet, it is not the second-smallest post office in the country. (The smallest one, at 7 feet by 8 feet, is in Ochopee, Fla. And at least one other post office is smaller than North Hoosick's — a 12-foot-by-14-foot one in Ophir, Colo.) The error was repeated in an accompanying picture caption.
In any event, I changed the title of this thread from "North Hoosick" to "Hoosick".
Interestingly, the Hoosick, NY post office has been in operation since 1807 (that's 207 years!) ... although certainly not at the same location, one can confidently say that it is the end of an era.
