Minnesota Postal History is a passion of mine, and the idea of a postmarks database has been on my mind for some time as well. :D

A couple of months ago, I was going through some of the cover boxes from the dealer, Doubleday. He had a number of covers created by some postmark collector of New York. They were modern, but the covers were unique. The envelopes were folded maps of an area in New York. Each cover was hand cancelled from a different town and that town name was highlighted on the map/envelope. I wish I bought one as an example, but there were many of these covers and each from a different town - many small towns. I'm sure Doubleday still has most of them.

Battlestamps it always amazes me the time people put in to creating unique philatelic items. And those who put in the time to say collect a postmark from every day of their birth year or one from every birthday for each year.
