Hi guys...Can you look at this Scott # 86b stamp...Just picked it up at my local coin and stamp store for a couple of dallors...Is the roping on the outside of this stamp look like an indication of a possible re-entry...Thanks.








ALSO THE RED SHIFTING IS SEVERE...

Wert, I believe you are seeing retouched cabling. There is also a
misalignment of the of the red color plate causing the islands to be printed slightly off from where they should be. This stamp is notorious for the blue and/or red plates not to be registered properly with the black plate. Each color was printed by a different plate.

The light blue is shifted upwards also. Neat.

I think all of your arrows point to a bit of extra ink along the rope boarders.

Looking at the black bar below the letters, you can see ink pull downwards, so that may be part of the reason also.

Good example of that.
