ebay used to have live auctions but discontinued them. I have no idea why. Hooking up with auction firms seems like a good ploy it will expose some of the live auctions to more bidders than they would otherwise.
They shut it down because ebay bidders never won. It would look like they did on the ebay interface, but then they were told that they were outbid by a floor bidder. So they stopped bidding through ebay.
