bigllf, it would have helped a lot if it had a bit more of the envelope showing. It looks like it reads 'Postage Paid' on the right side of the cancel. Did you tear this off the cover?

Hi Peter.
It was one from a lot I bought a view years back And I would put the ones of no interest in a big box I have When dividing them up when I get time I spotted A view.

Hi Peter

I have a feeling that this is a label that was once attached to a stamp and it got through the mail w/o a postage due fee (?)

Yep, there was once something attached when it was cancelled. Notice the very rectangular spot where there is no cancellation. Unless somebody just happens to recognize it, this one will probably go unidentified.

bigllf, if you edit the title of this thread, and make it read "is this a personalized stamp......' maybe a collector of these items will come through!

My guess would be a tab/label that would have been attached to a stamp. My thought is British, partly because of the cancel, but also it is reminiscent of a stamp put out a few years ago to commemorate Halley's Comet in 1986. may not be the right stamp, but I'll stick with Brit.

Modern British stamps are mostly quite awful, but I didn't think they were that bad. I do like the Robin though.

Terry - I think it's bad form to mail a robin. Or maybe the robin is mailing herself - or has just arrived - and that's not so bad.
