Given the beautiful condition most items were, actual retail when broken up would probably be higher than $30k. The dealer said he paid 50% cat including buyer premium so that sounds about right.

A bit less, $12,000 plus 20%=$14,400. However I agree it should bring about $30K at retail.

Let's bump this thread! I was able to get to the Asheville bourse late in the day yesterday, and one of the dealers held some M&Ms back for me. I finally was able to fill the RT15b spot! Pretty decent condition with just a small tear upper left. I've seen these with purple manuscript cancel, this one though looks like an orange handstamp. See what you think...
more to come!

The orange is also a manuscript cancel. BTW, this product that women spread all over their faces was made with white lead which is highly poisonous.

I shudder to think how many women suffered because of that concoction. http://kboyd.web.unc.edu/2014/09/02...om-of-youth/

Here's another I picked up. I already have RT11c, this one is on silk paper:

Bart, I've seen several copies of RT11c in pristine shape. Would they be remainders? Scott lists the RT11b at a higher value. The Boston book unfortunately doesn't break down paper types of this issue.

I always assume that any M&M's in VF-S condition are either remainders or examples purchased by collectors from the company in question, since some would sell the stamps if asked. Occasionally they even still have gum. And some companies would never sell them as well.

Thanks Bart - I've wondered about that. So many you just don't see in decent shape. Here are a few more I picked up yesterday:
