Found this cut square recently in a stock book I purchased. Thought the cancel was interesting, until I turned the square over and found an almost perfect image transfer on the back of the piece.

The post is also a bit of an experiment, since it's the first time I've posted an image on SCF from Photobucket. Seems to work pretty well.

Thats a nice piece that you show here!
It looks exactly the same on the back just a little less ink.
Very nice item and rare I think?

Printing on the back can occur in one of two ways:

Set-off, which is transfer from the wet ink of the previously printed item
Off-set, which is due to the press cycling without paper in it and the die gets inked on both sides and then prints on both side of the next item.

Frequently impossible to tell the difference and theoretically impossible to occur on web fed printing presses.

The F.S. cancel is "Foreign Service" cancel, out of London GPO sorting office, operator 112. This is used for anything leaving the country.
The image on the rear is a result of just a little to much ink on the previously printed item. As they stack in the printers bin, the image can transfer if it doesn't dry fast enough.
