Hello to all forummembers!
I have just registered myself.
My name is Rudi.
I live in the Netherlands and speak and write a little english.
I have a rare disease.. collecting kiloware!
I started with this in 1993 when news about internet came in.
I never soak stamps.
I try to make lots more complete!
I have now about 100-150 kilo's
My collection has 3 main parts:
Netherlands, europe ( incl. NL) and world (incl. Europe).
I like to discuss about kiloware!
My age is 49. I collect stamps since the 70's.
So if you want to discuss things about kiloware..

Ask me please!
Rudi.

Welcome to the forum Rudi

In the past, I have bought a few kiloware lots myself, but, haven't for quite some time.

At the moment, I am mounting 1000s of duplicates o approval sheets. Most of these I got from collections I bought here and there. The better ones I put into 102 cards.

Hope you will enjoy the forum? There are a lot of members in here who are quite willing to help.

Welcome Rudi !
150 kilos of stamps??!
Wow you have up to 330 pounds of stamps??? !!
How do you organize your stamps?
How about everyone else reading this?
How many pounds of stamps does everyone think they have?
I will take a guess and say I have about 40 pounds. All in bins, plastic shoe boxes, binders, filed by index cards, see images below.

I am now writing up a detailed description on the backsides of a 3 x 5 index card and then on the front, a nice clean look with the stamp see below:

Thanks for the replies Bujutsu and Suestamps!
That was unexpected realy fast!
I can imagine bujutsu that you havent bought kiloware for a while.
Thats from my dutch point of view.
Good adventurous lots are hard to find.
Thats why I collect these lots I have to make them by myself.
I buy a lot .. and I buy a collection on paper and then I mix this..
I buy a small lot latest issues and mix this with the rest etc.
At last I have lots that are rare with high values good postmarks a big lot ofdifferent stamps etc. etc.
Suestamps you have very well organised lots! I'm jealous!
I havent documented my lots this good.
I collect in shoeboxes.. bags and orange ( fruit ) boxes.
The cheapest lot I have is 2 euro per kilo ( this is info for the discussion not to sell ).
The most expensive lot is 150 euro.
This is per kilo.
I have much more of 40-150 euro than 2-40 euro per kilo.
I dont buy cheap kiloware and if I buy a big lot wwith cheap stamps an d better.. I sold the cheap part in auctions.
The last 4 years I sell them on a marketplace website.
I will truy to make a few pictures of my stock but its evening here I have to wait to daylight. Dont expect good quality pic's I have to make them with my 3 megapixel smartphone.
I am very pleased to meet you!
Rudi

Bujutsu,
How does the approval sheets work?
Do you put the stamps on 8.5 x 11 and then mail, and receiver picks which ones they want, returns the rest to you with the money?
It sounds very interesting.

When I was buying large groups of stamps (all on ebay), I would choose different countries and it worked out pretty well that way. Since I collect any and everything ( ), it was a LOT of fun to see what people in other countries would send!

Thank you for the compliment. Though looks sort of nice, it takes me hours to gather all this information. But I am learning so much about world history, I just love it!

Does everyone usually buy online these days and if so, where?
Thank you,
Sue (SueStamps)

Welcome to the forum! I like kiloware, too. In my case, however, I have a pathological need to soak them off, regardless of how many of those stamps I might already have. I just finished soaking 2 pounds (about a kilo) of German semi-postals over the last week or so.

Hi artfulhinger!
I tried to place a picture but this wasn't succesfull.

I can imagine that you soak the stamps many do that it is lots of fun.
But imagine in the year 2100..
People will love to soak too but there is no good kiloware in 2100 so that's why I started to collect for the next generations.
Question and demand.
So I found out that what I collect gets rare.
Its hard for me to keep the high values in the lots.
But I need them in the lots to keep quality inside.
Damaged stamps.. I throw them away many kilo's .
All my stamps are in good quality... almost.
I checked every stamp but that is done in less than a second per stamp.
What I like is stamps on paper with a complete postmark.
They have more value on paper than off paper in my opinion.
These are hard to find. Worldwide most kiloware is " short cut".
I have them too.
Some times I buy damaged covers to cut out the stamps with complete postmarks.
I am always busy with upgrading my lots.

We have ebay here too.
ebay is the owner of " marktplaats.nl" and thats the local ebay in the netherlands with over 100.000 adverts for stamps only.
The problem is people are looking for bargains.. the bids are to low so the quality is mostly low too. There are no lots of 100.00 euros or more per kilo.
I tried it to sell there but buyers want to pay 10 euros or less per kilo.
Thats the reality.. I pay sometimes 500 euros or more p.k. !
After spreading this over my lots I can keep the price up to 150 euros.
Again I talk about these prices because I collect in price classes.
I am not into selling. I like to talk about kiloware and the stampmarkets.
I am educated in economics. I do lots of research.
And I want to share my knowledge thats why I am here!

Hi Peter!
I am happy to meet a dutchman here!
Everything is fine here.. well since a few years we have eartquakes here.
But for the rest no problems!
The earthquakes come from the largest gasfield from europe I think..
Around the village " Loppersum" there are the most problems.
My town is " Hoogezand".
In the state "Groningen".
Now a few words in dutch:
Hallo Peter!
Rudi

Hello again kilowarecollector!

I am still on ebay off and on and also Delcampe, which gives me a European flavour. I usually now buy only small lof kiloware. Years ago I was buying slightly larger ones but have not been keeping up with them all so still have heaps and piles and plastic Rubbermaid brand tubs (5 gallon / 10 liters) here). I think I need some Time Management courses or something.

To answer SueStamps' other question about approval sheets, they are just shets of paper in a chosen size for the stamp club that have stamps hinged upon them, maybe 20 or so stamps a page I think, for the ones I have purchased. Different sizes for different places I would suppose also.

Hi Puzzler.
for small lots ebay is ok but if I want to buy a lot I want for example 10 kilo's and that I cant see very well on pictures so I still buy this in auctions the old fashioned way.
I have and can trust then the auctioneer because he is a well known auction.
i did this all over the world.
same for selling kiloware people can't see the quality and I am a private person not a well known company.
so I sell most in the region .

Yes Sue, these are 8.5 x 11 pages with squares printed on the sheets to describe the catalogue number, CV and sale price. I use them mainly for the clubs I belong to, but, have sent some through the mail in the past as well.
