Hi all, I am looking for a good source for kiloware, I collect 1980 on back, USA/Ireland/Austrian stamps but hell also collect worldwide as well. I like used, ones that needs to be soaked off, dried, then mounted.
Yeah I am old fashion, prefer to build a collecting then fill in the spaces later.
Thanks all

Wow and I just soaked probably 10,000 US and canada. Mostly 50-60-70-80's but your welcome to all of it for dirt cheap if you like. |

I got my kiloware (250 grams world wide) off ebay.de. The seller's name is Danmarkrot. It was great because it included alot of off paper stuff as well and 2 covers! |

Just an update on the above list. I tried the angelfire link and had no luck with getting a response via email. The email addy on the kiloware page is not valid and the one I found on the main page was not responded to. There is a Korean Misson site http://www.kcgm.org/stamps.htmlthat offers off-paper stamps, but their mailing was all fairly common stamps. It can help the beginner get a bunch of stamps for very little cost but it is not modern kiloware and is probably not a good fit for a reseller. |

Might I ask, is it best to go with a lot of kiloware for someone like me that is simply starting out and is looking for a large number to start filling some spaces?

Kiloware is popular because supposedly the stamps have not been looked over by someone else and you are having first go at them, so any varieties or special issues or anything is there to find.
It is hard to get unpicked kiloware though, although it is possible.
When I started there was an approval dealer through the mail that sent out glassines of 100 xxx country or 50 xxxx country etc and you could pick from those and send the rest back with your remittance.
You could buy sets or years sets or singles or pages of mixed stamps of course and pick out the best ones, or the ones that strike you as best.
Kiloware has it's own charm, it's own relaxing ways and you get to see some amazing stuff at times. |

Since you have your 50 posts, post an ad for what countries you are wanting to start on and look at other member's for sale posts. I would suggest that you limit yourself to 2 or 3 countries to begin with unless you have plenty of money. Once I get my 60 posts (just to have more than meet the minimum), I will be checking ads for trades, good stamps for sale, and posting my own for selling undamaged off paper to get rid of my extras from the on paper kiloware I've bought.
Warning: many on paper stamps are defective. I give the slightly damaged that I soak off, thinking they were OK, to teachers, orphanages, inner-city kids groups, etc. You will need to find a way to dispose of extras also. I got about 500 woodpeckers once in a pound of Sweden. You might do better to buy all different packets of countries. However, most of those have a lot of damaged from my perspective. I'm fussy about what goes into my collection and what I sell and send in trades. |

Bujutsu, many of those sites are no longer working or do not seem to be legitimate businesses. I'd be very wary in dealing with any of them. |

@stampcoder I just purchased 1000 stamps from 1 lot and 1000 stamps in glassines from another, (same vendor I believe), I have been looking at buying some stamps for my collection for a while on ebay, this is by far the best kiloware lot I have seen. Ill report back in once I have it, to let you all know. |

I have tried nearly all those links and most of them are dead. It seems like ebay is the largest source, but I feel that all of the lots have been picked through... |

I don't generally buy kiloware because I have more than enough stamps to soak. I have had pretty good luck on ebay with WW lots of 1000 stamps off paper. The best have been from sellers who have scans of the actual stamps you will receive. I now avoid any seller who says "picture is a sample" and then has a dozen listings using the same picture (usually contain tons of bundleware). Also be aware of shipping costs which can be very pricey. |
