OK,

Here's a quiz for you. I collect the 24 cent 1861 on cover, so mainly foreign mail.

So... knowing that... why did I get all excited when I saw this cover and why did I gleefully buy what's otherwise a common use in so so condition?

You have an unhealthy infatuation with people named, "Olga"?

I assume it is because of the Dutton & Townsend double oval. Is it a carrier handstamp?

Rev,

It's a merchant handstamp. Nothing philatelic about it.

Does it have to do with the receiver, and her possible relationship to the aristocracy prevalent in Hamburg at the time?

revcollector is on the right path.

It's not a 205c, and I didn't even look at whom it's addressed to.

I tried looking up the business "Dutton & Townsend". John Townsend was a prominent businessman and banker. He had something to do with Postal Savings accounts, but I filed to turn up any more info

I'll cave.

Dutton and Townsend was where a huge percentage of the Gomez covers to Spain originated from.

I'll admit my ignorance, what are Gomez covers?
