Just a cover front, but I've kept it in a frame on my desk for years.





I first thought that Capt. R.E. Fisk was the auther's son because of the directive at the bottom left " In care of Capt. J.L. Fisk Com'd'y Montana Exepdition. It turns out that they were brothers, and both no strangers with danger.

That's a nice cover and story, but little information on the specific addressee, Capt. R.E. Fisk (a/k/a Robert Emmett Fisk). Here's an excerpt from a recently published book on the subject that gives more biographical information on (Capt.) Robert E. Fisk. Note the reference to him communicating with his future wife, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Chester at Vernon, Connecticut, which certainly explains the postmark on the cover front shown:

See this is a wonderful example of why it's so important to look into each cover. There is always something to be found (albeit I suck at it), but I love it! Great cover front & background!
