I found this for sale on the internet.

Is it unusual to find an apparent machine cancel with no CDS? Is it contrived? Perhaps the CDS just simply didn't print? Or could it be that two pieces of mail may have run through the cancelling machine together giving the effect that no CDS was present?

In any case, I don't recall ever seeing one like it before, have you?

I have seen more than one such example over the years. Usually because the town dial printed on the next card (envelope) as it came through the machine.

Thanks. I sorted of figured that was the cause (two pieces of mail ran together). Nonetheless, it does make for an unusual looking postcard.
