Nice cover of a small ship with a short history.

*Laid down, 31 July 1944, at Albina Engine and Machine Works Inc., Portland, OR.
*Launched, 2 September 1944
*Commissioned USS LCS(L)(3)-55, 30 September 1944
*During World War II LCS(L)(3)-55 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater LCS(L) Flotilla Three, Group Seven and participated in the following campaigns:
-Assault and occupation of Iwo Jima, 15 February to circa 1 March 1945
-Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, 1 April 1945
*Following World War II LCS(L)(3)-55 performed occupation duty in the Far East
*Decommissioned, date unknown
*Laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet
*Reclassified Landing Ship Support Large USS LSSL-55, 28 February 1949
*Struck from the Naval Register, date unknown
*Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 29 December 1950, to Dulien Steel Products, Seattle WA.
*USS LCS(L)(3)-55 earned two battle stars for World War II service

IndianGoldEagle. May I ask where you pulled the ship history from. I recently obtained several older ship covers and would love to be able to tie each to the ships history.

Thanks, blcjr. I had been able to find longer write ups on the ships, but this format would fit nicely on an index card to store with the cover. Many of the ships I have covers for saw service in WWII and would be nice to show that.
