I seem to be developing a taste for tobacco stamps lately. Added these today, picked up at our club bourse. Mostly 1935 Series C (with various overprints) and a 1968 'wing' stamp.

Interesting study Jamesw
I too have a small collection of these and they require some research regarding the tobacco companies that used these by the overprinted codes.
You also might want to consider purchasing the Lee W. Brandom handbooks if you can that lists all these stamps.
Was great to see you at the Barrie show yesterday and I liked your display on the Canadian War tax stamps.
BTW - your email did not get through to me (?)

Thanks Bujutsu. Great to see you and the missus too. Someone yesterday mentioned the Brandom books to me, so I think I'll have to start looking for them. There's also a great online catalogue by Christopher Ryan. Here some others I've picked up recently. Forgive me if I've already posted these. I loose track. The Newfie one is particularly cool, I think. |

James These are attractive - thanks for showing. I have a few ITC of Canada cigarette cards, which tend to be reprints from various UK-based Imperial brands. Geoff |

here is a link to ESJ Van Dam that offer some free documentation on Tobacco stamps: http://www.canadarevenuestamps.com/ . Check the yellow box on the right about "Catalogue of the Federal Tobacco stamps of Canada by Christopher D. Ryan". There are a few link to PDF and to additional articles. |

An excellent catalogue by Mr Ryan. I printed it out on good paper last year sometime. It sits on my bookshelf with the rest of the philatelic books. I just find the hard copy more convenient. |

Know nothing about this revenue, except that to my eyes it is attractive: |

Stampfan, your very lovely cigarette strip is a Series A issued in 1926. Catalogue #RC318 in Christopher Ryan's catalogue, linked above (page 80). They are also listed in R.A. Odell's 'The Retail Cigar, Cigarette and Tobacco Stamps of Canada (Published by Earl H. Vincent, Almont, Ont.) under catalogue #5133, which lists their dimensions as 5 5/8" x 1/2". |

There were a lot of large Tobacco stamps sold to collectors in the later (Small Queen) Victorian period. These are mainly mint. I have one which I will try to post when I get home in two weeks. |
