Recently, I reviewed some older posts here regarding hingeless albums. They seem very appealing, however for most countries I do not attempt to collect the entire country and in fact collect mostly definitives. I'd like to hear opinions on the following:

1- Which companies who make hingeless pages sell subsets of an entire country (e.g. just hingeless pages for definitives, airs, dues, etc)?

2- The brands of hingeless albums I know of are Palo, Davo, and Schaubeck. Are there others?

3- Which companies offer hingeless pages with black and white illustrations?

4- Which are the higher quality pages available that are lined like graph paper? By higher quality, I mean thicker and more substantial.

5- I am thinking that if I don't get into hingeless albums, I may use strips of mounts to mount sets (as opposed to individual mounts. Are there certain types that are sturdier and less flexible? The ones I've used in the past were flimsy, allowing stamps to easily slip out.

6- What novel and useful methods have you developed to easily mount MNH stamps in albums when you don't collect the entire country?

Thanks for any help!

All the best,

Ed

Ed,

You might want to take a look at what Lighthouse has to offer www.lighthouse.us .

In addition to their "plain paper" option whereby you'd create your album from scratch, they sell hingeless pages (with mounts) intended for GB Machins and Wildings
www.lighthouse.us/epages/lig...oducts/BL01SF

Also, rather than using entire strips on a page, they also offer pages with this already done, to a certain extent, pls see
www.lighthouse.us/epages/lig..._1934/US_1939

If you are interested in definitives, the size might suit and these pages might save you a lot of time.

Hope this helps,

Larry

I like the Lighthouse pages (with the mounts added in different formats). You obviously need an album that they will fit in, but they are very high quality archival paper.

The only downside is that they are a bit pricey - you get what you pay for. I think about $3-5 per page if I recall (+ shipping). Best to order a batch at a time.

I like Mystic Mounts from Mystic Stamp Co. I've never had a stamp fall out mounted with Mystic Mounts. They too sell them in strips.

Thanks so much for the ideas! I realized the best option, it not Vario pages as I've done for years, would be very sturdy "graph paper" pages with mount strips.
